ABOUT INTEGRATED MIND PSYCHOLOGY

Dr Tamara Robins, PhD

I am a clinical psychologist based in the Chatswood, Sydney. I am currently available online for telehealth sessions for people all over Australia and in person in my Chatswood office. I have training in and experience providing CBT, ACT, DBT, mindfulness based therapy, EMDR and other trauma informed therapy. I work with individuals in a personal, collaborative and tailored approach both to manage difficult emotions and stress and to enhance vitality and wellbeing.

I am experienced working in many areas of adult and teen mental health including stress and burnout, depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, OCD (including obsessional type OCD and relationship OCD), PTSD, complex PTSD, BPD, trichotillomania, Bipolar disorders, insomnia and stress management and burnout. I enjoy working with people of all cultures, religions, neurotypes, sexual orientations and genders. I am aware of the, at times deeply traumatising, impact of racial trauma and of being a minority in our society.

My therapy approach is person centered and grounded in psychological theory. I work collaboratively with my clients to explore current areas of difficulty or areas where growth is desired. We then work together to build new skills, to manage difficult thoughts and emotions more effectively, and to build a sense of thriving in life. It is a privilege for me to work with people to help them grow in a way that feels meaningful for them.

Education and training

I completed my Master of Psychology (Clinical) in Adelaide in 2008 and worked in a government run Community Mental Health centre. I working with individuals and in groups with people experiencing complex mental health needs. During this time I completed six months of training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) by Behavioral Tech and was part of implementing a comprehensive DBT service in Adelaide. I had the privilege of running several DBT skills training groups and MCT groups while in Adelaide.

In 2012 I commenced a PhD exploring burnout in health professionals and students. During this time I was based in Hong Kong, Adelaide and Sydney and had two children who are now 11 and 7. I graduated in 2018 with a Dean's Commendation for Doctoral Thesis excellence.

I have been working in private practice in Sydney since 2017 both in person and telehealth.

I attend further training in specialist areas either in person or online each year. I completed my EMDR Institute Basic Training in 2020 via an EMDRAA and EMDRIA approved course which involved six days of workshops, ten hours of supervision and 20 hours of practice. I also completed a one day online EMDR 2.0 training in 2023. I have had additional training in ACT via Russ Harris's ACT for Beginners, ACT for Anxiety and Depression and ACT for Trauma trainings. In January 2023 I attended Bessel Van Der Kolk's two day training in Sydney on the neurobiology of trauma. I am a member of the Australian Clinical Psychology Association (ACPA).

I work with adults and older teens from all cultural, religious and ethnic backgrounds, experiences and pasts. I work with people who identify anywhere on the LGBTQIA+ rainbow. Therapy can be about managing painful and difficult emotions more effectively, it is also about building resilience and finding a sense of well-being, thriving and meaning in life.

Apart from my interest in understanding health and well being, I enjoy spending time with friends and family and I love to travel, walk and read for fun.
